Oui Capital Invests in Vite, Mauritius’ first multimodal mobility app
Oui Capital is pleased to announce our investment in Vite, a Mauritius- based multimodal mobility startup. Mobility has been and remains one of our fund’s core verticals as we believe connecting people and goods is a vital part of creating prosperity on the African continent. Vite is an originally french word meaning “quickly” or “fast”.
Vite was born out of the inconvenience the founders encountered not being able to book taxis ‘on demand’ and paying two-way fares for one-way trips, while co-organizing a TEDx event in 2016 in Mauritius.
This pre-seed round is designed to provide Vite Technologies with the financial and operational support necessary to launch full operations on Mauritius Island, after its highly successful beta-testing which saw more than 6500 app downloads and 500 completed trips.
Vite is the first app-based mobility company in Mauritius, which is one of the world’s major business hubs with over 1.5m tourists and business travelers every year- surpassing the country’s population of 1.3m people. The country is considered by the company to be a strategic gateway to the Southern African Development Community (“SADC”) region.
We are excited to partner with this visionary team to change the face mobility in the Southern African market.
